RAWALPINDI: The sit-in at the Gorakhpur checkpost near Adiala Jail, led by Imran Khan\u2019s sister Aleema Khan and PTI supporters, has been called off after successful negotiations with police, officials said.<\/strong><\/p>\n Police held initial talks with Aleema Khan and PTI leaders on the spot and gave assurances that meetings with Imran Khan would be arranged. Authorities confirmed the family will be allowed to meet the former prime minister today and again next Tuesday, leading the protesters to disperse peacefully.<\/p>\n Aleema Khan, sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, was staging a sit-in along with party supporters at the Gorakhpur checkpost near Adiala Jail, vowing to stay until she is allowed to meet her incarcerated brother<\/p>\n According to reports, Aleema Khan declared that she and her family will remain at the site until they are granted a meeting with the former prime minister.<\/p>\n She alleged that Imran Khan is being kept in solitary confinement, calling the treatment \u201coppressive\u201d and \u201cillegal.\u201d \u201cWe will stay here until we are granted a meeting. What is happening to Imran Khan is unjust,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n Terming the situation \u201ca jungle law,\u201d she accused authorities of unlawful behaviour towards the PTI founder. \u201cFor those who say we are staging a drama \u2014 then why is there so much police here?\u201d she questioned.<\/p>\n Aleema Khan said the family\u2019s protest is peaceful, asserting, \u201cThis is our country, and we have every right to protest.\u201d<\/p>\n Referring to a recent incident, she asked, \u201cWhy was my sister dragged on the road last Tuesday?\u201d<\/p>\n She also criticised the deployment of women police officers, claiming they were being used to \u201cmalign other women,\u201d and alleged that the actions were intended to please PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz.<\/p>\n \u201cIf they want to arrest us, they can go ahead \u2014 we are not afraid,\u201d Aleema Khan added.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, the ongoing sit-in by Imran Khan\u2019s sister has severely disrupted traffic on Adiala Jail Road. Both sides of the road remain blocked, causing major difficulties for commuters.<\/p>\n Ambulances and school vans are stuck in the hours-long traffic jam. A school van driver told reporters that parents are constantly calling, worried about the delayed arrival of their children due to the blockade.<\/p>\n Reporters at the scene confirm that the gridlock has left locals distressed as the protest shows no sign of ending.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n
