Sabrina Carpenter is finally clearing the air about the meaning behind her Man\u2019s Best Friend<\/em> album cover which had the internet divided for weeks. <\/strong><\/p>\n In a new cover story for Variety<\/em>\u2018s Hitmakers Issue, the Please, Please, Please <\/em>singer addressed the controversy surrounding her latest album cover art.<\/p>\n The album cover art \u2013 which she unveiled in June \u2013 featured Carpenter on her hands and knees as an unseen man pulls her hair.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was about how people try to control women, and how I felt emotionally yanked around by these relationships that I had, and how much power you\u2019re allowing yourself to give them,\u201d the 26-year-old singer explained.<\/p>\n Sabrina Carpenter faced severe backlash when she released the cover, with many claiming it was degrading to women. She says she understands why people felt that way, but insists her intention was deeply personal.<\/p>\n \u201cIt meant one thing to me and 100 things to other people, and I was looking at it going, \u2018That\u2019s valid. Mine\u2019s valid. What\u2019s for dinner?’\u201d she said.<\/p>\n The Espresso<\/em> singer further added, \u201cNot to bypass the weight that it did carry for some people.
