Joshua Jackson updated on how he has been grieving his late pal, James Van Der Beek\u2019s death.<\/strong><\/p>\n During the latest episode of\u00a0The Today Show<\/em>, the\u00a0Dawson\u2019s Creek<\/em> star shared the grief he felt over losing his friend and co-star. He further noted, \u201cI think it hits in a variety of different ways\u201d.<\/p>\n He continued, \u201cFor me as a father now, the enormity of that tragedy hits me in a very different way than just as a colleague, so I think the processing is ongoing.\u201d<\/p>\n Joshua, who has a five-year-old daughter, Juno, with his ex-wife, Jodie Turner-Smith, explained he now saw his longtime friend through the lens of fatherhood and described him as a \u201creal man.\u201d<\/p>\n James, who died from stage 3 colorectal cancer last month at the age of 48, was father to six children, whom he shared with his wife, Kimberly Brook.<\/p>\n \u201cHe became what we used to just call a \u2018good man,\u2019 a man of the kind of belief, the kind of faith that allowed him to face the impossible with grace, an unbelievable partner and husband, right?\u201d Joshua said on the show.<\/p>\n \u201cJust a real man who showed up for his family and a beautiful, kind, curious, interested, dedicated father. And so while on the one hand that\u2019s beautiful and I think he did lead a very good life and he was a good man, it is also \u2013 the tragedy of that loss for his family is enormous,\u201d he further mentioned.<\/p>\n Joshua, who co-starred with James in the teen drama Dawson\u2019s Creek, believes that while the screen time the two shared on the show has always kept fans hooked, it is James\u2019 later achievements that he will be remembered for.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was formative for us, and I know both of us look back on that time with great fondness,\u201d he reflected.<\/p>\n \u201cBut I will also say is, I know that I\u2019m just a footnote in what he actually accomplished in his life,\u201d Joshua Jackson concluded.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
