Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane has said he is set to start negotiations to extend his contract with the Bundesliga champions beyond 2027.<\/strong><\/p>\n Speaking at a media day in Munich on Monday, the 33-year-old England captain told reporters the discussions had been delayed until after he returned from a post-World Cup holiday, but would begin soon.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m not sure exactly when, but they\u2019ll start this week or next week,\u201d Kane said of the extension talks.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re calm, they\u2019re calm with the situation. Obviously now\u2019s the time to start talking, because with only a year left it\u2019s important.<\/p>\n \u201cBut both sides are relaxed and I\u2019m pretty sure there\u2019ll be talks this week or next week.\u201d<\/p>\n Kane arrived at Bayern on a four-year deal in 2023 and has won two Bundesliga titles and a German Cup, while making the Champions League semi-finals in two out of three seasons. He has scored a remarkable 146 goals in 147 games in all competitions for Bayern.<\/p>\n Bayern have repeatedly said they want to extend Kane\u2019s deal at the club, having called the former Spurs striker their \u201cbest transfer ever\u201d at the end of last season.<\/p>\n German media reported Kane\u2019s new deal would run until at least 2029.<\/p>\n On Tuesday, German World Cup winner Lothar Matthaeus said Kane should be the favourite for the Ballon d\u2019Or, which will be awarded in October.<\/p>\n Matthaeus, who won the award in 1991, said Kane \u201cdeserves\u201d the award more than any other player after a stellar season, in which he scored 61 goals in 51 games.<\/p>\n \u201c(Kane) delivered outstanding performances and, in my opinion, didn\u2019t have a single weak spell,\u201d Matthaeus wrote in a column for Sky Germany.<\/p>\n Defending Bundesliga champions Bayern play at Borussia Dortmund in the season-opening Supercup on Saturday.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
