{"id":65568,"date":"2026-08-21T14:07:47","date_gmt":"2026-08-21T14:07:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsvog.com\/ur\/65568"},"modified":"2026-08-21T14:07:48","modified_gmt":"2026-08-21T14:07:48","slug":"china-launches-biggest-ever-auto-recall-campaign","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsvog.com\/ur\/65568","title":{"rendered":"China launches biggest ever auto recall campaign"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div style=\"font-size:16px;line-height:1.6\">\n<p><strong>Eleven carmakers, including Tesla and Xiaomi launched software updates and vehicle recalls on Friday, the companies said, \u200bin China\u2019s largest-ever automotive recall campaign, as regulators tighten scrutiny of \u200cemergency door-release systems in EVs.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Most of the actions, classified as product recalls under Chinese regulations, address concerns that emergency mechanical door release handles may be difficult to locate or \u200boperate during emergencies.<\/p>\n<p>Nine of the 11 automakers, including Tesla and Xiaomi, \u200bwill install warning labels free of charge to identify the handles, \u2060while most will also deploy over-the-air (OTA) software updates.<\/p>\n<p>The sweeping campaign comes as \u200bBeijing steps up oversight of the EV industry and introduces tougher safety requirements, as \u200bautomakers roll out new technologies amid a fierce price war in the world\u2019s largest auto market.<\/p>\n<p>Tesla would recall 2.98 million imported and China-made Model 3, Model Y, Model S and \u200bModel X vehicles from September 25, it told the State Administration for \u200bMarket Regulation, according to the regulator\u2019s statement.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. automaker said mechanical emergency door-release handles may \u200cbe \u2060difficult to identify following a severe collision and electrical system failure, potentially hindering occupants\u2019 escape or rescuers\u2019 access, the statement said.<br \/>Tesla\u2019s remedy includes warning labels and an OTA update that automatically lowers vehicle windows after a collision.<\/p>\n<p>At least \u200bsix car brands, including \u200bTesla, Xiaomi, \u2060Leapmotor, Xpeng\u00a0 Zeekr and Lynk &amp; Co, announced their largest recalls on record on Friday, according to their filings to SAMR.<\/p>\n<p>China \u200bis set to ban concealed or \u201chidden\u201d door handles from \u200b2027, becoming \u2060the first country to phase out a design popularised by Tesla and widely adopted by domestic EV makers.<\/p>\n<p>The design, which allows doors to be opened using a \u2060key \u200bfob, smartphone or a press-operated mechanism, has attracted \u200bregulatory scrutiny in China and the United States over concerns that the handles may be difficult \u200bto access during emergencies.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/arynews.tv\/china-launches-biggest-ever-auto-recall-campaign\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Eleven carmakers, including Tesla and Xiaomi launched software updates and vehicle recalls on Friday, the companies said, \u200bin China\u2019s largest-ever automotive recall campaign, as regulators tighten scrutiny of \u200cemergency door-release systems in EVs.
