Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany said Friday the club were aware of midfielder Jamal Musiala\u2019s neurological disorder long before it was made public this week.<\/strong><\/p>\n Hours after fainting on the pitch for the second time in four days, the 23-year-old issued a statement Tuesday saying he is suffering from a \u201cneurological disorder\u201d which can lead to \u201ctemporary but treatable seizures\u201d.<\/p>\n Confirming Musiala would not play in Saturday\u2019s season-opening Supercup clash away at Borussia Dortmund, Kompany said Bayern were aware of the condition.<\/p>\n The coach revealed the seizures were a result of a change in treatment.<\/p>\n \u201cHe made a slight change to his treatment, which caused some side effects. It\u2019s perfectly normal to make changes to a treatment plan.<\/p>\n \u201cNow we want to get things back to how it was before.\u201d<\/p>\n Bayern sporting director Max Eberl said the club knew about the condition for over a year and said it was Musiala\u2019s decision to go public.<\/p>\n Kompany said the Bayern bench and support staff were \u201ccalm\u201d when Musiala collapsed.<\/p>\n \u201cI understand there are many questions. But the initial shock for us was a long time ago. Therefore, we\u2019re not talking about it that much at the moment,\u201d Kompany said.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019ve been prepared for some time\u2026 We have procedures in place and we\u2019re very optimistic.\u201d<\/p>\n Along with Musiala, Lennart Karl and Serge Gnabry will also be missing in Saturday\u2019s Supercup for the German champions.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
