{"id":66272,"date":"2026-08-23T06:28:09","date_gmt":"2026-08-23T06:28:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsvog.com\/ur\/66272"},"modified":"2026-08-23T06:28:16","modified_gmt":"2026-08-23T06:28:16","slug":"two-rescued-after-bulk-carrier-sinks-off-india","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsvog.com\/ur\/66272","title":{"rendered":"Two rescued after bulk carrier sinks off India"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div style=\"font-size:16px;line-height:1.6\">\n<p><strong>NEW DELHI: Rescuers searched on Sunday for 22 people missing after a merchant vessel sank off India\u2019s eastern coast, the navy said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Panama-flagged bulk carrier MV Ocean Winner was headed to Singapore from Paradip port in India\u2019s Odisha state, according to MarineTraffic.<\/p>\n<p>The vessel sent a distress alert about 700 kilometres (435 miles) east of Visakhapatnam, the navy said, prompting a joint rescue operation with the Indian coast guard.<\/p>\n<p>Two of the 24 crew members were rescued, it said, adding that a navy patrol aircraft had been redeployed to surveil the area.<\/p>\n<p>The coast guard also deployed three vessels, Indian broadcaster NDTV reported.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe aircraft located life rafts in the area\u201d, and coordinated with a nearby vessel, MT Aisopos, to collect two of the crew from liferafts, the navy said.<\/p>\n<p>Twenty crew members were Chinese, three were from Myanmar and one was Bangladeshi, the Press Trust of India news agency reported, citing coast guard sources.<\/p>\n<p>The nationalities of the two rescued crew members were not immediately clear.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/arynews.tv\/two-rescued-bulk-carrier-sinks-off-india\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NEW DELHI: Rescuers searched on Sunday for 22 people missing after a merchant vessel sank off India\u2019s eastern coast, the navy said.
