LONDON \u2013 England fast bowler Brydon Carse is being investigated over an incident in Derby on Saturday night, the England and Wales \u200bCricket Board (ECB) said on Sunday.<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cWe are aware of an incident which \u200cis reported to have taken place in Derby last night and we are currently investigating,\u201d an ECB spokesperson said.<\/p>\n \u201cWe will provide a further update when possible.\u201d<\/p>\n Videos circulating \u200bon social media appear to show the Durham bowler in handcuffs \u200bbeing led away from a club by police officers.<\/p>\n Brydon Carse is \u2060part of England\u2019s squad for the second test against Pakistan starting \u200bnext week at Lord\u2019s.<\/p>\n He was not on England duty at the time of the \u200balleged incident after being an unused member of the squad for the first test which England won comfortably at Headingley.<\/p>\n The investigation comes five days after England\u2019s returning test captain Joe Root \u200bspoke of the players being \u201creally good role models and human beings\u201d \u200bafter a series of incidents and accusations of a drinking culture.<\/p>\n Controversy has followed England around \u200cin \u2060recent times with off-field issues during last winter\u2019s tours, including Harry Brook being fined \u00a330,000 ($40,908) following an altercation with a bouncer in Wellington as well as reports of drinking during a mid-Ashes trip to Noosa.<\/p>\n This summer Ben \u200bStokes broke a \u200bteam curfew along \u2060with Gus Atkinson, with the pair dropped from the second test against New Zealand at the Oval.<\/p>\n Former test \u200bcaptain Stokes eventually announced his retirement from international cricket \u200bwhile Brendon \u2060McCullum was sacked as test coach.<\/p>\n The ECB would not confirm whether Carse was still in the squad for the second test against Pakistan. Reuters has \u2060contacted Carse\u2019s \u200bcounty side Durham to request comment from \u200bthe player.<\/p>\n In 2024, South Africa-born Carse was suspended from cricket for three months for historic \u200bbetting offences.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
