The session court in Karachi has extended the interim bail of Muhammad Ahmed, a business partner of slain businessman Mir Raza Ali, until September 1, 2026, and directed him to join the police investigation.<\/p>\n
The hearing took place at the City Court in Karachi on Ahmed\u2019s plea for interim bail.<\/p>\n
During the hearing, Ahmed\u2019s lawyer, Khalid Mumtaz, said his client had sought bail because he was Mir Raza\u2019s business partner and could be made an easy target to involve in the case.<\/p>\n
He also alleged that police had been repeatedly calling Ahmed to the police station and harassing him.<\/p>\n
On the other hand, Lawyer Jibran Nasir, representing Mir Raza\u2019s family, told the court that police had summoned Ahmed for questioning, not to arrest him.<\/p>\n
He said Ahmed had lived with Mir Raza and that it was therefore important for investigators to question him.<\/p>\n
Jibran Nasir said police wanted to record Ahmed\u2019s statement and argued that there were currently no grounds for granting him bail.<\/p>\n
The court asked the investigating officer whether the murder investigation had been completed. The officer said it was still underway.<\/p>\n
The court also asked whether Ahmed had been formally nominated as a suspect. The investigating officer said Ahmed had not been named as an accused and that his name did not appear in any police report or charge sheet, while the challan has also not yet been prepared.<\/p>\n
The court extended Ahmed\u2019s interim bail until September 1, 2026, and ordered him to cooperate with police and appear at the station to join the investigation.<\/p>\n
He was also barred from leaving the city until the next hearing.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
