KARACHI: Gold prices in Pakistan remained unchanged on Friday, August 28, in line with the trend in international bullion prices amid continued geopolitical uncertainty.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to rates issued by the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association, the price of 24-karat gold remained unchanged at Rs483,036 per tola.<\/p>\n

The price of 10 grams of 24-karat gold also remained steady at Rs414,125, while 10 grams of 22-karat gold was priced at Rs379,628.<\/p>\n

In the international market, gold was quoted at $4,605 per ounce, according to the association.<\/p>\n

In contrast, silver prices moved higher, with the price per tola rising by Rs180 to Rs7,509, from Rs7,329 a day earlier.<\/p>\n

Investors continued to closely monitor developments in the Middle East amid ongoing tensions and diplomatic efforts aimed at reaching a lasting resolution to the conflict in the Gulf.<\/p>\n

Iran war mediators have renewed efforts to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, with Tehran agreeing to draw up a list of conditions for restoring normal maritime traffic after a Qatari envoy urged Iranian authorities to respect freedom of navigation.<\/p>\n

With the United States having disengaged from talks in favour of an economic pressure campaign, the Qatari prime minister met senior Iranian leaders in Tehran on Thursday and stressed the importance of restoring the pre-war status of open shipping through the international waterway.<\/p>\n

Qatar, a US ally and Gulf neighbour of Iran, and Pakistan helped broker a memorandum of understanding in June that led to a ceasefire and established terms for shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, the narrow waterway between Iran and Oman that, before the war, carried around 20% of the world\u2019s oil supply.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
