PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced to fight for recovery of the province\u2019s Rs 2700 billion arrears from the federal government at all forums.<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cThe KP government will raise its voice for the provincial autonomy and constitutional rights at higher forums,\u201d a meeting of the consultative committee for energy and electricity said in a session, chaired by provincial energy minister Nazeer Ahmed Abbasi.<\/p>\n The committee observed that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have foremost right over the natural resources of the province.<\/p>\n Secretary Energy informed the session that 10 energy projects of the Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization (PEDO) are generating 224 megawatts electricity. \u201cPEDO\u2019s energy projects generating over six billion rupees surplus revenue,\u201d provincial official said in briefing.<\/p>\n Energy official said that the work has been underway over a 40-KM long power transmission line from Matiltan to Bahrain. \u201cThe Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Transmission and Grid System Company has been established for power transmission\u201d.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, the work has been in progress over a Nepra-like regulatory authority on the provincial level, official further said.<\/p>\n \u201cUnder the constitution, the oil and gas producing province has priority right over its resources,\u201d secretary said.<\/p>\n The session agreed to continue a joint struggle for winning the constitutional rights of the province over its energy resources.<\/p>\n Energy minister Nazeer Ahmed Abbasi said that the government will talk on equal terms at each forum for the rights of the province.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
