A woman at a private hospital in Karachi\u2019s Nazimabad area has admitted to police that she was not pregnant and had presented a fake ultrasound report, bringing an end to a dispute over the alleged disappearance of a newborn, police say.<\/strong><\/p>\n According to police, the woman told investigators that she had suffered a miscarriage after getting married in 2024. She was subsequently under pressure and began presenting herself as pregnant.<\/p>\n Police said the woman visited hospitals and underwent ultrasound scans but did not consult a doctor about the results.<\/p>\n The case came to light after the woman\u2019s family alleged that a baby had disappeared because of negligence by hospital staff. Hospital officials, however, said the woman had not been pregnant.<\/p>\n Police said a medical examination and medico-legal report found no evidence that the woman had been pregnant.<\/p>\n Investigators also found that hospital staff had relied on an ultrasound report shown on the woman\u2019s mobile phone.
