The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, has met Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Heads of States (CHS) Meeting in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic.<\/strong><\/p>\n The two leaders discussed bilateral ties, regional connectivity and the security situation in the region.<\/p>\n The meeting was attended by Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, SAPM Syed Tariq Fatemi and Foreign Secretary Amb. Amna Baloch. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and other high officials were also present.<\/p>\n Shehbaz Sharif and Pezeshkian reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening relations between Pakistan and Iran, building on agreements reached during the Iranian president\u2019s visit to Pakistan in June.<\/p>\n They also discussed efforts to improve regional connectivity and increase people-to-people contacts between the two countries.<\/p>\n The two leaders exchanged views on the evolving regional situation, with Shehbaz Sharif calling for restraint and continued diplomatic engagement to achieve lasting peace and stability.<\/p>\n The Prime Minister of Pakistan stated that the recent visit of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir to Tehran and his constructive engagements augured well in this regard.<\/p>\n The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of restraint and sustained diplomatic engagement to achieve lasting peace and stability in the region.<\/p>\n Sharif also called for progress on understandings reached under the Islamabad MoU, describing them as a possible pathway towards a lasting settlement of regional tensions.<\/p>\n Iranian President Pezeshkian praised Pakistan\u2019s diplomatic efforts to promote regional peace and security.<\/p>\n The Iranian President also underscored the enduring strength of Pakistan-Iran relations, rooted in centuries of shared history, culture, and faith, and reaffirmed Tehran\u2019s strong desire to further deepen cooperation across a wide range of sectors.<\/p>\n He stressed the need to forge unity among the Ummah to deal with contemporary challenges.<\/p>\n The Prime Minister extended an invitation to President Pezeshkian to undertake an official visit to Pakistan, at his earliest convenience.<\/p>\n The Iranian President also invited the Prime Minister for the forthcoming ECO Summit in Tehran in December 2026.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
