The Ministry of Interior in Saudi Arabia achieves a digital transformation breakthrough. The Ministry had announced a feature launched on the digital government website \u2018Absher\u2019 which allows all Saudi citizens to update the photograph in their ID card online without resorting to a renewal procedure for personal ID or submitting a complaint that a document has been lost, in order to change a photograph which has been registered for decades.<\/strong><\/p>\n Saudi citizens now can change a picture in the record of the civil register without having to complete the required administrative procedures at a service center that is the general civil affairs services agency (NCIA).<\/p>\n Digital-driven government This step is part of the Saudi National \u201cVision 2030\u201d that aims to improve and strengthen the provision of e-services to government employees and accelerate electronic transformation and digital development in government departments.<\/p>\n This new development follows an impressive period of growth in digital engagement in the Kingdom, with more than 240 million transactions on the e-government platform Absher (Absher Individuals and Absher Businesses) in the first half of 2026 alone, as it seeks to streamline access to the available services with the goal of easing pressure on physical service centers.<\/p>\n Secure digital technology the update is designed as part of the framework for a comprehensive unified digital identity that is based on secure security systems.<\/p>\n Absher, which maintains co-ordination with the National Unified Access Portal (Nafath), protects identity protection mechanisms and security protocols while also verifying biometric data against available digital identity documents.<\/p>\n Absher, the most used e-government platform in the region and which ranked first in the Digital Experience Maturity Index for public administrations with a performance score of 94.38 per cent in 2026, continues to lead the way in advancing public services that utilize automation technology, reducing the administrative burden faced by citizens wishing to change a registration.<\/p>\n Saudi citizens can log into their validated Absher Individuals accounts to submit their desired new photograph with immediate effect, following the established procedures.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
