Punjab has launched a fleet of mobile veterinary units to provide livestock treatment and diagnostic services to farmers across Punjab.<\/p>\n
The Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, inaugurated the mobile veterinary fleet, describing it as a step towards making veterinary care more accessible to livestock farmers.<\/p>\n
The chief minister inspected a mobile veterinary dispensary, laboratory and X-ray unit during the launch. She also directed officials to organize a livestock conference and approved the proposed design of a model veterinary hospital.<\/p>\n
According to officials, 30 new mobile veterinary dispensaries and 17 mobile veterinary laboratories have been launched. The government said 2,206 mobile veterinary hospitals are now operational across Punjab.<\/p>\n
The mobile units will be equipped with ultrasound and X-ray facilities, while laboratories will be able to conduct up to 40 tests on site. Officials said the units will also help with the screening and surveillance of livestock diseases.<\/p>\n
The provincial livestock department said X-ray facilities would be available at 10 divisional hospitals, while operation theatres and laboratories would be established in all 36 districts. It also plans to provide 138 ultrasound machines across the province\u2019s tehsils.<\/p>\n
Veterinary assistants would use 6,964 motorcycles to reach farmers\u2019 camps and provide treatment to livestock.<\/p>\n
More than 1,000 interns working under the chief minister\u2019s internship program have so far treated about 3.4 million animals, according to the government.<\/p>\n
The provincial government also plans to establish a model veterinary hospital in every tehsil and construct or renovate 230 existing veterinary hospitals.<\/p>\n
The proposed model hospitals will include cattle, mechanical and horse crush facilities, as well as hydraulic operating tables and modern lighting in operating theatres.<\/p>\n
The government has also announced plans for the artificial culling of 800,000 animals, saying the measure is aimed at increasing milk and meat production.<\/p>\n
Officials said Punjab had been declared free of lumpy skin disease following a vaccination campaign.<\/p>\n
