ISLAMABAD, September 3, 2026: The National Cyber Emergency Response Team has issued important cybersecurity instructions amid concerns over possible cyber attacks during Defence Day, ARY News reported.<\/strong><\/p>\n The National CERT has directed important institutions to establish special cybersecurity control rooms from September 5 to 7. Sectoral and provincial CERTs have also been asked to remain alert, while critical information infrastructure organisations have been directed to prepare for possible cyber threats.<\/p>\n The National Security Operations Centre (NSOC) will work as the national cyber coordination centre during Defence Day. It will remain active 24 hours a day to monitor the cyber situation and facilitate the exchange of important information.<\/p>\n The National CERT has directed institutions to continuously monitor important networks, systems, websites and digital services. Any major cyber incident, suspicious activity or possible security breach must be reported immediately.<\/p>\n Institutions have also been advised to maintain coordination with the NSOC for cyber threat intelligence sharing and a joint response to incidents affecting national digital infrastructure.<\/p>\n All institutions have been directed to ensure the availability of cybersecurity focal persons and technical teams from September 5 to 7. Technical teams must remain prepared for immediate communication and emergency response in case of a cyber incident.<\/p>\n Special measures have been suggested to protect government and other important websites, portals, APIs and email services. Institutions have been instructed to activate web application firewalls and DDoS protection and keep web systems updated.<\/p>\n The National CERT has also directed institutions to use multi-factor authentication and stronger security controls for administrative accounts, update operating systems and disable unnecessary services.<\/p>\n Firewalls and systems for detecting and preventing cyber attacks must remain active on important servers. Critical databases should not be directly accessible through public IP addresses, while security logs should be monitored regularly.<\/p>\n Institutions have also been told to keep disaster recovery sites ready for immediate use and maintain offline or air-gapped backups of important systems and configurations.<\/p>\n Data centres and security operations centres have been directed to ensure alternative internet connectivity and power backup arrangements.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
