ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has expressed strong displeasure with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) over the offloading of passengers from flights without providing valid reasons.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Justice Ayaz Shaukat heard a petition filed by citizen Muhammad Saeed Khan, who was offloaded from a Malaysia-bound flight.<\/p>\n

An assistant attorney general, an assistant director legal and other FIA officials appeared before the court.<\/p>\n

During the hearing, the court summoned the FIA additional director concerned for the next hearing on Tuesday along with the relevant record.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhenever a person is offloaded, the reason must be recorded,\u201d Justice Ayaz Shaukat remarked, expressing concern over passengers being prevented from travelling without being informed of the reasons.<\/p>\n

The court also expressed displeasure when the FIA official who had offloaded the petitioner failed to appear despite the court\u2019s directions.<\/p>\n

The FIA assistant director legal informed the court that the officer\u2019s father had suffered a cardiac problem, which was why he could not attend the hearing.<\/p>\n

The judge directed the FIA to ensure that the officer appeared at the next hearing and brought a medical certificate with him.<\/p>\n

The court also took exception to a female FIA officer\u2019s statement that an investment visa and a visit visa were the same.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou have written something else in the report, but you are telling the court something different at the rostrum,\u201d Justice Shaukat remarked.<\/p>\n

The court directed the FIA officials to submit affidavits explaining their position and instructed them not to alter the report already submitted to the court. The assistant director legal was also directed to submit an affidavit.<\/p>\n

During the proceedings, Justice Shaukat asked which official was responsible for airport-related matters.<\/p>\n

FIA officials informed the court that the additional director was responsible for all airport-related affairs.<\/p>\n

The judge directed the officials to ensure that the additional director appeared in person on Tuesday along with the relevant record.<\/p>\n

The court summoned the additional director and other relevant FIA officials and adjourned the hearing until Tuesday.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
