{"id":72612,"date":"2026-09-07T10:49:26","date_gmt":"2026-09-07T10:49:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsvog.com\/ur\/72612"},"modified":"2026-09-07T10:49:28","modified_gmt":"2026-09-07T10:49:28","slug":"qatar-says-gulf-cannot-rely-on-us-alone-for-security","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsvog.com\/ur\/72612","title":{"rendered":"Qatar says Gulf cannot rely on US alone for security"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div style=\"font-size:16px;line-height:1.6\">\n<p><strong>ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates: Gulf nations cannot rely solely on the United States and other international alliances for their security and need to be more self-sufficient, Qatar\u2019s foreign ministry spokesman said in Abu Dhabi on Monday.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe need to realise in the Gulf that having international forces in the region, having a strategic alliance with the United States, is very important, but is not enough,\u201d he told the Hili Forum in the United Arab Emirates\u2019 capital.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSelf-sufficiency when it comes to security is the only way forward. Yes, we need our partners. Yes, we need our allies. But we cannot depend on them alone for our security,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Qatar is a key mediator in the US-Iran war and has also sustained heavy Iranian attacks, especially on its energy infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>The tiny but wealthy, gas-rich country hosts the biggest US base in the Middle East.
