ISLAMABAD: The federal government has decided to launch a sub-national anti-polio campaign across the country from September 21 to September 27, ARY News reported.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The special anti-polio drive will cover 115 districts nationwide, with the government setting a target to vaccinate 30.1 million children.<\/p>\n

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 8.3 million children across 37 districts will be administered polio drops. Meanwhile, a target has been set to vaccinate 2.3 million children in Balochistan.<\/p>\n

As many as 10 million children aged five years and under will be vaccinated against polio across 30 districts of Sindh.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, a whopping 10.6 million children will receive the vaccine across 13 districts in Punjab.<\/p>\n

In Islamabad, the target is to vaccinate 447,000 children, while 137,000 children will be vaccinated across two districts of Gilgit-Baltistan.<\/p>\n

In Karachi, the sub-national anti-polio drive will run in the Central, East, West, South, Keamari, Korangi, and Malir districts.<\/p>\n

Sewage water samples from 35 districts have tested positive for the polio virus, with a total of 128 environmental samples across the country confirming the virus so far this year.<\/p>\n

Three polio cases have surfaced nationwide thus far, compared to 21 cases that emerged last year.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
