KARACHI: The main accused in the violence case involving University of Karachi Professor Dr Arif Khan Saqi, Kunain Shah, has secured bail, ARY News reported.<\/strong><\/p>\n According to reports, police said five people have so far been arrested in the case.<\/p>\n Police had conducted raids at different locations to arrest Kunain Shah. However, police now say the main accused cannot be arrested after securing bail.<\/p>\n The accused allegedly assaulted Professor Arif and his nephew along with his other associates.<\/p>\n A case was registered at Sachal police station on the complaint of Professor Arif Khan Saqi, naming Kunain Ali Gohar Shah and others as accused.<\/p>\n In the FIR, Professor Arif Khan Saqi stated that he is chairman of the Department of Islamic Studies at the University of Karachi and was travelling to the university from his home with his nephew and driver, Waheed.<\/p>\n According to the FIR, near Sindh Green Hotel at Safoora Chowrangi, a vehicle hit and damaged the bonnet of his car.<\/p>\n The FIR stated that when the occupants of the vehicle were leaving, Professor Arif asked them to compensate for the damage to the poor boy\u2019s vehicle. When he asked their names, the accused became angry.<\/p>\n According to the FIR, the accused allegedly hit Professor Arif and his nephew with pistol butts. Two gunmen allegedly struck them on the chest and head.<\/p>\n Professor Arif stated that after they fell injured, four more people arrived and they were beaten and taken to a hotel, where they were allegedly kept in unlawful confinement and subjected to further violence.<\/p>\n The FIR stated that the accused also resorted to aerial firing and took his nephew\u2019s vehicle with them.<\/p>\n Professor Arif said police rescued them and the accused fled the scene. He later learned that one of the accused was named Kunain Gohar Ali Shah and sought legal action against him.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
