{"id":73626,"date":"2026-09-09T21:12:24","date_gmt":"2026-09-09T21:12:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsvog.com\/ur\/73626"},"modified":"2026-09-09T21:12:26","modified_gmt":"2026-09-09T21:12:26","slug":"hafiz-naeem-says-people-are-suffering-due-to-corruption-in-sindh","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsvog.com\/ur\/73626","title":{"rendered":"Hafiz Naeem says people are suffering due to corruption in Sindh"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div style=\"font-size:16px;line-height:1.6\">\n<p><strong>LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has called for giving full powers to elected local governments, saying Karachi and other major cities should have an independent local government system.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Speaking at ARY News programme On My Radar, he said the Green Line project had still not been completed despite years passing, while the Red Line project was facing serious concerns.<\/p>\n<p>Hafiz Naeem criticised the existing local government structure, saying elected representatives have limited authority while bureaucrats hold decision-making powers.<\/p>\n<p>He said town and union council representatives do not have control over key civic services such as garbage collection, water, sewerage and building control.<\/p>\n<p><div class=\"entry-content-asset videofit\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Sindh Is an Example of Worst Corruption, People Suffer Because of It: Hafiz Naeem\" width=\"720\" height=\"405\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/0egrQQoiOek?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p>He proposed giving elected local representatives authority over all departments under their jurisdictions and said major cities including Karachi, Hyderabad and Larkana should have empowered district governments.<\/p>\n<p>Hafiz Naeem also criticised the federal and provincial governments over rising taxes and the burden on ordinary citizens.<\/p>\n<p>He said people using motorcycles and working as delivery riders were facing difficulties due to high petrol prices and taxes, while large landowners should be brought into the tax net.<\/p>\n<p>He also criticised the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), alleging corruption and questioning the government\u2019s tax collection system.<\/p>\n<p>The JI chief said empowered local governments could also put pressure on the federal government when citizens faced such burdens.<\/p>\n<p>Criticising the Punjab government, he referred to the ninth-grade examination results and claimed that more than 50% of students had failed.<\/p>\n<p>He also criticised the state of healthcare, education and transportation, referring to the PIMS incident and questioning the development of public transport in Lahore.<\/p>\n<p>Hafiz Naeem urged Pakistanis, journalists and intellectuals to remain united, saying JI\u2019s protest was continuing and that women and children were also participating in it.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/arynews.tv\/hafiz-naeem-says-people-are-suffering-due-to-corruption-in-sindh\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has called for giving full powers to elected local governments, saying Karachi and other major cities should have an independent local government system.
