{"id":73854,"date":"2026-09-10T11:20:48","date_gmt":"2026-09-10T11:20:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsvog.com\/ur\/73854"},"modified":"2026-09-10T11:20:50","modified_gmt":"2026-09-10T11:20:50","slug":"mike-hesson-opens-up-on-jason-gillespies-yes-man-warning","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsvog.com\/ur\/73854","title":{"rendered":"Mike Hesson opens up on Jason Gillespie\u2019s \u2018yes man\u2019 warning"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div style=\"font-size:16px;line-height:1.6\">\n<p><strong>Pakistan head coach Mike Hesson has insisted he will stick to his principles after former Pakistan coach Jason Gillespie advised him not to become a \u201cyes man\u201d amid the ongoing turmoil surrounding the national team.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Gillespie, who previously served as Pakistan\u2019s Test head coach, recently urged Hesson to trust his own judgement while speaking to The Telegraph.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy advice to Mike would be: trust your instincts and don\u2019t be a yes man,\u201d Gillespie had said. \u201cI know him, he\u2019s a great guy, and I think he\u2019s an excellent coach. I hope he just doesn\u2019t get caught up in all this mess just because he\u2019s happy to accept a pay cheque.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During an interview, former England captain Nasser Hussain raised Gillespie\u2019s comments with Hesson and highlighted the instability surrounding Pakistan\u2019s coaching setup.<\/p>\n<p>Hussain noted that Hesson is now Pakistan\u2019s 19th Test coach in 25 years and pointed out Gillespie\u2019s belief that the New Zealander should remain true to his principles rather than simply follow instructions.<\/p>\n<p>Mike Hesson, however, was adamant that he would maintain his approach despite the circumstances surrounding the team.<\/p>\n<p><div class=\"entry-content-asset videofit\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"&#039;Some things are out of your control&#039; | Mike Hesson reacts to latest Pakistan drama\" width=\"720\" height=\"405\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/m0BvCFduUzs?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOh, without doubt. I mean, I can focus on what I need to do within the team. There are things that are acceptable and things that aren\u2019t. But some things are also outside of your control,\u201d Hesson said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think I\u2019m very clear about where we want this team to go, and over the next five days, we\u2019re going to try to implement that as best we can.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hesson was brought in as Pakistan\u2019s interim red-ball head coach following their disappointing performances in the first two Tests against England at Headingley and Lord\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>Pakistan lost the opening Test by an innings and 103 runs before suffering another heavy defeat at Lord\u2019s, going down by 194 runs to fall 2-0 behind in the three-match series.<\/p>\n<p>The defeats prompted the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to make major changes to the Test setup, with seven players from the original touring squad released, alongside head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed and bowling coach Umar Gul.<\/p>\n<p>Hesson subsequently took charge of the red-ball side, while former Australia seamer Ashley Noffke joined as bowling coach.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/arynews.tv\/mike-hesson-opens-up-on-jason-gillespies-yes-man-warning\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pakistan head coach Mike Hesson has insisted he will stick to his principles after former Pakistan coach Jason Gillespie advised him not to become a \u201cyes man\u201d amid the ongoing turmoil surrounding the national team.
