{"id":76053,"date":"2026-09-15T19:22:07","date_gmt":"2026-09-15T19:22:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsvog.com\/ur\/76053"},"modified":"2026-09-15T19:22:08","modified_gmt":"2026-09-15T19:22:08","slug":"auto-policy-aims-to-make-vehicles-more-affordable-for-consumers-pms-aide","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsvog.com\/ur\/76053","title":{"rendered":"Auto policy aims\u00a0to make vehicles\u00a0more affordable for\u00a0consumers: PM\u2019s aide"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div style=\"font-size:16px;line-height:1.6\">\n<p><strong>New auto policy in Pakistan is in its final stages and is expected to be launched soon, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Haroon Akhtar Khan said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Speaking on the program\u00a0On My Radar, Haroon Akhtar said work on the policy had taken time because of several changes in the automotive sector, including increased competition, the growth of electric vehicles (EVs), and the introduction of a national tariff policy.<\/p>\n<p><div class=\"entry-content-asset videofit\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Good News for Low-Income People: What\u2019s in the New Auto Policy? | Haroon Akhtar Khan Talk\" width=\"720\" height=\"405\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/kmWa06LgBmE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p>He said the number of car manufacturers in Pakistan had increased from three to 13 because of the previous two auto policies, making competition a key consideration in drafting the new framework.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe biggest change has been the arrival of electric vehicles,\u201d Akhtar said, adding that the new policy would include measures to facilitate EVs.<\/p>\n<p>He said extensive discussions had taken place over the auto policy, which took enough time, and that work was now focused on its legal aspects.<\/p>\n<p>A key objective of the new policy was to make vehicles more affordable for consumers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have maintained a balance in the policy so that our vehicles can compete with the rest of the world,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the government had taken additional time to formulate the policy to avoid repeating mistakes made in the past.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the new policy will also remove additional customs duties and regulatory duties.
