KARACHI: Police have registered a case against lawyer Akbar Jatoi and nine others for allegedly assaulting an investigating officer and helping an accused escape from the Sindh High Court premises, ARY News reported.<\/strong><\/p>\n The case was registered at Preedy Police Station on the complaint of investigating officer Shoaib Pathan.<\/p>\n According to the FIR, the case was registered under sections related to terrorism, helping an accused escape from custody, fighting and interference in government duties.<\/p>\n The FIR names accused Dad Shah, Saleem, Asif and seven others.<\/p>\n According to the complainant, accused Dad Shah was brought to court for a pre-arrest bail hearing. The court rejected his bail and ordered his arrest.<\/p>\n The accused, had appeared before the Sindh High Court in connection with an attempted murder case registered against him at Memon Goth Police Station.<\/p>\n According to the details, after the court dismissed his bail petition, the accused attempted to flee the court premises. As he was running away, investigating officer Shoaib Baloch took him into custody within the court premises.<\/p>\n However, the accused\u2019s family members intervened and allegedly tried to free him from police custody. Shortly afterwards, his defence counsel arrived and allegedly began repeatedly slapping the investigating officer.<\/p>\n The defence lawyer also allegedly assaulted a plainclothes police officer during the incident.<\/p>\n Amid the chaos caused by the lawyer and the accused\u2019s family members, Dad Shah managed to escape from the court premises.<\/p>\n According to the FIR, five to six unidentified armed men, along with the accused\u2019s relatives, had arrived at the scene. During the resistance, a lawyer, Akbar Chughtai, also reached the spot.<\/p>\n The FIR states that the suspects freed the arrested accused from police custody and interfered in official duties.<\/p>\n Police have registered the case and started legal proceedings.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
