Formula 1 has confirmed that pre-season testing for the 2027 championship will be held over four days at the Bahrain International Circuit from February 24-27.<\/strong><\/p>\n The 2027 calendar announcement, which includes a record 10 Sprint weekends alongside 24 Grands Prix, also revealed that the teams will return to the same venue just under two weeks after testing concludes for the season opener in Sakhir for the Bahrain Grand Prix from March 12-14.<\/p>\n The decision to hold the test session over four days instead of three is in line with a directive from the Fdration Internationale de l\u2019Automobile (FIA) that teams needed more time to evaluate the current gen cars, which is compounded by the large overhaul of engines and chassis the 2026 season required.<\/p>\n Due to the strict overhaul of aero and engines, the last campaign necessitated a multi-stage testing arrangement-including a private Barcelona test a few weeks before two separate three-day events in Sakhir-but the 2027 campaign is finally going back to one test venue.<\/p>\n However, instead of back-to-back three-day testing sittings in Sakhir, regulators opted to extending the test by an additional day to give engineers more time to sort out a string of setup challenges and data collection issues.<\/p>\n Having a single test location is also a major logistical boon for teams trying to get ready for a grueling year. With the championship returning to Sakhir after the test, teams can keep their freight and pit gear at the Bahrain International Circuit instead of having to roadshow their equipment all over the world ahead of the first round.<\/p>\n The championship will immediately head to Saudi Arabia after Bahrain from March 19-21 before embarking on a three-stop flyaway leg between Australia, Japan and China before finishing up in Abu Dhabi on December 12.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
