KARACHI: The suspect identified as the killer of a woman and her three children in Surjani Town has been killed in a police encounter, SSP West Tariq Elahi Mastoi told ARY News.<\/strong><\/p>\n According to the SSP West, police had taken suspect Muhammad Humayun to identify the weapon used in the killings when he snatched a policeman\u2019s pistol and opened fire while attempting to escape.<\/p>\n Humayun\u2019s firing injured ASI Noman Sheikh, police said.<\/p>\n A police officer accompanying the team returned fire, killing Humayun on the spot.<\/p>\n Police recovered the snatched pistol from the deceased suspect, SSP West said.<\/p>\n He added that police also recovered the murder weapon, a sharp-edged tool, on Humayun\u2019s identification.<\/p>\n The bodies of a woman and her three children were found inside their house in Sector 7-D, Surjani Town, on Monday night. The victims had suffered head injuries caused by a sharp-edged weapon and a heavy object.<\/p>\n DIG Karachi West Irfan Baloch had identified Humayun as the killer during a press conference.<\/p>\n According to police, Humayun had previously lived in the victims\u2019 house as a tenant for around one and a half years. On the day of the incident, he arrived at the house at around 2:30pm, knowing that the woman\u2019s husband was not at home.<\/p>\n Police said Humayun had been harassing the woman and allegedly attempted to assault her. When a nearby child began crying, he allegedly picked up the child and struck her against a wall.<\/p>\n The woman\u2019s two other children returned home from a madrassa at around 3pm. Humayun allegedly opened the door for them and subsequently killed both children, according to police.<\/p>\n Police said Humayun then washed himself and the bloodied iron rod in the bathroom before leaving the house at around 6pm.<\/p>\n According to police, Humayun attempted to make the incident appear to be a robbery. However, investigators determined during their initial inspection of the crime scene that it was not a robbery.<\/p>\n Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar had taken notice of the incident and sought an immediate and detailed report from SSP West. He directed police to investigate the incident from all aspects, collect evidence from the crime scene and determine the reasons behind the killings.<\/p>\n<\/div>\nBackground<\/h3>\n
