ISLAMABAD: The Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) has imposed fine after charges of cartelisation proved against the All-Pakistan Edible Oil Tanker Owners Association.<\/strong><\/p>\n The CCP said that Rs 60 million fine has been imposed on the association over the nexus in the edible oil and ghee sector.<\/p>\n The fine has been slapped over fixing transportation fares and another 30 mln over distribution of the business, CCP said.<\/p>\n \u201cThere was a formula of increasing fares over hike in diesel price and slashing fares over decrease in the price,\u201d CCP said.<\/p>\n CCP said that the transportation fares were 89 times collectively changed in six years. \u201cThose tanker owners issued black-list warnings who were offering concessional fares,\u201d CCP said.<\/p>\n \u201cThe mills that were demanding concessional fares were warned of halting their supplies,\u201d CCP said.<\/p>\n The competition commission said that the tankers were being offered business on the \u2018Parchi system\u2019 instead of the free competition.<\/p>\n CCP said that the hike in transport costs edible oil and the ghee could go out of the access of general public.<\/p>\n According to official data, international palm oil prices fallen by 24 percent during December 2024 to November 2025. However, retail prices of cooking oil and ghee in Pakistan increased by around five percent during the same period.<\/p>\n Raw palm oil constitutes nearly 65 percent of the total cost of cooking oil, while the remaining 35 percent relates to shipping, processing, and packaging.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
