KARACHI: The Medico-Legal Officer (MLO) of Abbasi Shaheed Hospital on Monday issued cause-of-death certificates after completing the post-mortem examinations of five members of a family found dead in a flat in Ahsanabad.<\/strong><\/p>\n The five deceased were a doctor, his wife and their three daughters. Police said no signs of torture or injuries caused by a sharp-edged weapon were found on the bodies.<\/p>\n However, the cause of death has been kept reserved in all five certificates and will be determined after the results of chemical examinations are received.<\/p>\n Police Surgeon Dr Samia said samples collected from different parts of the bodies had been sent to a laboratory for chemical analysis. She said the final cause of death would be established after the laboratory report.<\/p>\n The first post-mortem report was prepared in the name of Dr Umar, while the remaining four reports were prepared under unidentified identities.<\/p>\n Police said Dr Umar originally hailed from Punjab. Officials said they had established contact with his brother, Abu Bakr, and his father-in-law, who are currently in Punjab. The bodies will be handed over to the family after their arrival in Karachi.<\/p>\n Earlier, police recovered the bodies after breaking open the door of the flat following information from neighbours about a foul smell coming from the apartment.<\/p>\n According to police, the door was locked from the inside when officers arrived. After breaking it open, they found the bodies of the husband, wife and their three children lying in the same room.<\/p>\n A neighbour told police that the family had moved into the flat in February 2024 and had been facing financial difficulties. The family had also opened a clinic in the area, but it reportedly failed to succeed.<\/p>\n
