DASHT: Security forces have arrested 58 Afghan nationals, including women and children, in Dasht tehsil of Balochistan\u2019s Kech district while they were allegedly attempting to travel to Europe through Pakistan and Iran, security sources said on Monday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to security sources, the arrests were made during an operation in the Dasht-Mirani area, where an alleged attempt at human smuggling was foiled.<\/p>\n

The detained Afghan nationals were allegedly being facilitated by human smugglers to travel from Pakistan to Iran and onward to Europe, the sources said.<\/p>\n

The arrested individuals were handed over to the relevant police authorities for further legal proceedings, according to the sources.<\/p>\n

Security forces have continued operations against human smuggling in border areas, with authorities saying the measures are aimed at preventing illegal movement and ensuring law and order in the region.<\/p>\n

Pakistan\u2019s repatriation drive<\/h2>\n

The arrests come amid Pakistan\u2019s ongoing campaign to repatriate undocumented foreign nationals.<\/p>\n

Pakistan launched a repatriation drive in 2023 and expanded measures concerning Afghan nationals in 2025 following changes in their legal status in the country.<\/p>\n

According to official figures presented to a Senate committee, more than one million Afghan nationals have been deported from Pakistan since the campaign began.<\/p>\n

On June 29, the Ministry of Interior directed provincial governments and law-enforcement agencies to take immediate action against Afghan nationals residing in Pakistan without valid visas.<\/p>\n

Under the directive, which was to take effect on July 10, 2026, Afghan nationals found staying in Pakistan without valid visas were to be arrested under the government\u2019s Illegal Foreigners\u2019 Repatriation Plan (IFRP).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
