{"id":78669,"date":"2026-09-22T01:51:28","date_gmt":"2026-09-22T01:51:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsvog.com\/ur\/78669"},"modified":"2026-09-22T01:51:29","modified_gmt":"2026-09-22T01:51:29","slug":"two-tankers-hit-by-projectile-debris-in-hormuz-maritime-agency","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsvog.com\/ur\/78669","title":{"rendered":"Two tankers hit by &#8216;projectile&#8217;, debris in Hormuz: maritime agency"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div style=\"font-size:16px;line-height:1.6\">\n<p><strong>A maritime security agency said Monday that two tankers were hit either by an \u201cunknown projectile\u201d or debris from one in the Strait of Hormuz, where vessels have come under repeated fire since the Middle East war broke out.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Iran is seeking to maintain a stranglehold on the vital waterway as leverage in its war with the United States, while Washington has imposed a counterblockade of Iranian ports, with both sides striking ships they accuse of noncompliance.<\/p>\n<p>In the first incident to be reported on Monday, \u201ca tanker conducting an inbound transit was struck by an unknown projectile\u201d in the Hormuz, said the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) operations centre.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTwo crew have sustained minor injuries and the vessel is reported to be continuing to its next port of call under its own power,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n<p>British security firm Vanguard Tech said UK-flagged tanker La Stephanie was hit by a drone while sailing towards the Gulf, also reporting minor injuries to two crew members.<\/p>\n<p>Later in the day, UKMTO said an \u201cLPG tanker has been hit by debris from unknown projectiles\u201d.
