Retired Nagaland cricketer Rachit Bhatia has been the centre of a huge fixing scam after a secret video showed him revealing that he took lakhs of rupees to leak playing XI to the bookies and also fix matches in Indian domestic and Indian Premier League (IPL)<\/strong><\/p>\n The disclosures emerged from an investigative sting operation by the media house Tehelka which eventually led to a notice being served by the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) to the BCCI.<\/p>\n Allegations of Leaks and Spot-Fixing<\/strong><\/p>\n In the footage, Bhatia describes how the process was tiered with the following being, among the things he claimed were \u201csold\u201d.<\/p>\n Bhatia said he was paid 60 lakh per game in 2025 IPL season-a sum totaling 3 crore over five games-to pass CSK playing XI information to bookies in London through Snapchat.<\/p>\n The cricketer confessed to spot-fixing in the domestic T20 tournament Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, held in 2018-19, when he was representing Nagaland. He revealed he bowled two overthrows for 8 lakh each.<\/p>\n Bhatia has claimed that he paid a bribe of 15 lakh to make his way into Nagaland\u2019s 2018-19 Ranji squad.<\/p>\n He claimed that a team composition or a spot fixing deal in the Delhi Premier League was 40 lakh per game.<\/p>\n DDCA Issues Clarification and Involves BCCI<\/strong><\/p>\n After the sting operation was published, DDCA Secretary Ashok Sharma said that the state association had approached the BCCI for a formal investigation.<\/p>\n According to a formal press release issued by the DDCA, it said:<\/p>\n \u201cThe claimants in these reports are uncorroborated, and have not been proven by any appropriate authority. The Association considers it would be wrong to draw any inference as to the conduct of any player or franchise from such claims.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIn view of the gravity of the matter, DDCA has written to the concerned authorities and shared the information that has been received with the authorities concerned with a request that the matter be investigated through the formal procedures available.\u201d<\/p>\n Meanwhile, said the DDCA, \u201cThe Project-managed DDCA Delhi Premier League anti-corruption through Security Package consisting of a sum of Rs 30-35 lakh for each franchise club was not under the control of the local organizers.<\/p>\n Instead, it was directly monitored by the Security and Anti-Corruption Officers (SLO) appointed by BCCI for each franchise who were with the other franchise clubs.\u201d<\/p>\n Neither law enforcement nor any cricket administration body has formally validated Bhatia\u2019s taped allegations or lodged criminal complaints against the accused in the video.<\/p>\n The DDCA, on the other hand, said it will seek directions from BCCI\u2019s central Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU), before starting internal probe, phone investigations or player interviews.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
