KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday adjourned indefinitely the hearing of appeals challenging the acquittal of accused Anmol alias Pinky in three cases registered at Gizri Police Station.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A division bench of the Sindh High Court rejected a request seeking an urgent hearing of the appeals filed by the Prosecutor General Sindh against the trial court\u2019s decision.<\/p>\n

During the proceedings, the prosecution sought additional time to submit the police files related to the cases. The court accepted the request and adjourned the hearing for an indefinite period.<\/p>\n

The prosecution argued that the acquittal of co-accused persons did not absolve Anmol Pinky of the allegations levelled against her. It further submitted that the delay in the proceedings was due to the accused\u2019s alleged absconding.<\/p>\n

According to the prosecution, drug-related cases had also been registered against Anmol Pinky at other police stations. It urged the SHC to set aside the trial court\u2019s decision acquitting her in the three cases.<\/p>\n

An Additional District and Sessions Judge (South) had previously acquitted Anmol Pinky in three cases registered at Gizri Police Station.<\/p>\n

In August, a Karachi court acquitted alleged drug dealer Anmol alias Pinky in three drug-related cases registered at Gizri Police Station.<\/p>\n

The Additional District and Sessions Court (South) approved the suspect\u2019s acquittal pleas and acquitted her in all three cases.<\/p>\n

According to the defence counsel, the cases were registered against Anmol in 2020, 2021 and 2022. She had been declared a fugitive in all three cases.<\/p>\n

The lawyer told the court that two co-accused, Ali and Fahmida, had already been acquitted in 2024.<\/p>\n

According to the defence, Anmol was nominated in the cases on the basis of statements allegedly recorded by the co-accused. Since the co-accused had already been acquitted, the prosecution could not secure a conviction against Anmol, the lawyer argued.<\/p>\n

The prosecution failed to present sufficient evidence against the accused, the court observed before acquitting her.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
