England coach Thomas Tuchel said forward Cole Palmer had missed another chance to impress after withdrawing from the squad ahead of Saturday\u2019s Nations League opener against Spain with an injury.<\/strong><\/p>\n The \u200bChelsea player, who was left out of England\u2019s World Cup squad earlier this year \u200cafter an injury-hit campaign affected his form, returned to Tuchel\u2019s plans following a strong start to the season.<\/p>\n Palmer has scored four goals and provided two assists in seven appearances for Chelsea so far, earning a recall \u200bfor Nations League fixtures against Spain, the Czech Republic and Croatia. However, the 24-year-old \u200bwas forced to pull out of the squad with a muscle problem.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s \u2060another missed opportunity. He misses too many opportunities,\u201d Tuchel told reporters.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t blame him for it, \u200bit\u2019s just a fact. He misses way too many camps with injuries.<\/p>\n \u201cI only want to rely \u200bon what I personally witness and see within my team. For that you have to be in camp. If you are not in camp there is a next level to impress that you cannot achieve because \u200byou can only do it with me on the pitch and with us on the pitch. \u200bIt is a missed opportunity.\u201d<\/p>\n Tuchel rejected suggestions they were managing the player\u2019s workload by letting him leave camp.<\/p>\n The \u200cChelsea \u2060attacker played the full 90 minutes in his side\u2019s defeat by Brentford before reporting for international duty.<\/p>\n \u201cHe plays with discomfort and pain and cannot play on the highest level with discomfort and pain,\u201d Tuchel said.<\/p>\n \u201cChelsea informed us. That is my understanding. We\u2019re not managing load.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is not an \u200binternational break. It\u2019s a \u200bcompetitive environment where the \u2060players love to train and be together. That\u2019s what we created. We will never compromise on that.<\/p>\n \u201cWe will never let this feeling creep in \u200bthat the players don\u2019t want to come. We focus on the \u200bguys who absolutely \u2060want to play for England.\u201d<\/p>\n The three-week international window is the first under FIFA\u2019s revised match calendar, which combines the traditional September and October breaks.<\/p>\n England begin their Nations League campaign against world champions Spain \u2060at \u200bWembley on Saturday before travelling to Prague to face the \u200bCzech Republic on September 29.<\/p>\n Tuchel\u2019s side then take on Croatia in Rijeka on October 3 before hosting the Czechs at \u200bWembley three nights later in Group A3.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
