ISLAMABAD: The federal government of Pakistan is likely to reduce petrol and diesel prices today, ARY News reported.<\/strong><\/p>\n After a three-day gap, petroleum product prices will be determined today, with further relief expected for September 29.<\/p>\n The price of high-speed diesel is likely to decrease by Rs3.55 per litre, while petrol may become cheaper by Rs1.37 per litre.<\/p>\n The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) will determine the new prices tonight.<\/p>\n The government has the authority to reduce or further increase petroleum prices by making changes to taxes.<\/p>\n Meanwhile the government has introducted Petrol Relief Scheme to help general public.<\/p>\n Under the Petrol Relief Scheme, motorcycle and Cingchi rickshaw owners get a Rs.100 per litre discount on up to 20 litres of petrol per month.<\/p>\n Owners of vehicles with engines up to 800cc are eligible for discounted petrol of up to 30 litres per month.<\/p>\n How to register<\/strong><\/p>\n To register for the discounted petrol, applicants should send an SMS containing the following information to 9771: citizens write REG, CNIC number, Vehicle registration number, First word of the province name and Vehicle registration date.<\/p>\n Once registration is completed, applicants will receive a confirmation message on their mobile phone.<\/p>\n How to obtain the petrol token<\/strong><\/p>\n Before visiting a petrol station, applicants should send TOK to 9771.<\/p>\n They will then receive a token number by SMS. The token number should be presented at the petrol station to claim the discounted petrol.<\/p>\n A confirmation message will be sent after the transaction is completed.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
