KARACHI, Oct 2: Karachi Development Authority (KDA) Director General Zain-ul-Abideen Ansari visited four ongoing development sites in Karachi to review the progress of infrastructure works aimed at improving connectivity, mobility and access for citizens.<\/strong><\/p>\n During the visitThe DG inspected the construction of the Siddiqui Jokhio Bridge in UC Chohar, District Malir, where major portion of work has been completed.<\/p>\n The bridge is being developed to provide a safer and more reliable crossing over Malir River, particularly during the monsoons when heavy outpour often disrupts existing routes.<\/p>\n Speaking at the site, the DG said that the bridge would establish an effective and direct connection between the M-9 Motorway and Education City, facilitating movement for students, residents and other commuters. He said the improved route would reduce travelling time, fuel consumption and vehicle operating costs while providing a dependable connection to an area expected to serve a large student population.<\/p>\n \u201cThe real value of development work is measured by the difference it makes in people\u2019s daily lives. The Siddiqui Jokhio Bridge will provide a safe and convenient crossing where movement is frequently disrupted during heavy rains, while creating a more direct link towards Education City and the M-9. By reducing unnecessary detours, the project will save commuters time and fuel and provide a more dependable route for the growing population and educational activities of the area,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Ansari subsequently inspected the road from Check Post-4, Malir Cantonment towards Zakaria Town, where approximately 90 per cent of the work on the (approx) 1.25 kilometre road has been completed. The project, initiated in April this year with a planned two-year completion period, is progressing substantially ahead of the scheduled timeframe.<\/p>\n The DG said the early progress reflected KDA\u2019s focus on completing development schemes efficiently, adding that the road would improve access to Malir Cantonment, adjoining areas and the M-9 corridor.<\/p>\n \u201cTimely completion of infrastructure means timely relief for the public. This road will provide a more convenient route for commuters and strengthen connectivity with adjoining areas and the M-9,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n At Scheme 33, the DG reviewed the ongoing construction of Rumi Road and Madras Road, having a combined length of 1.7 kilometres. The project is restoring important links between Ubaidullah Sindhi Road and Hazrat Sachal Sarmast Road, which had previously been non-operational or severely deteriorated.<\/p>\n According to the project assessment, restoration of Rumi Road can substantially shorten the route for commuters, while the reconstruction of Madras Road is improving traffic circulation, drainage, pedestrian movement and access to residential and commercial areas. The project has recorded 88 per cent physical progress.<\/p>\n Ansari said restoration of these links would not only ease movement but also support commercial and residential development in the surrounding area.<\/p>\n \u201cRoad development is also economic development. Restoring these links will make daily travel easier, improve access to homes and businesses and create better conditions for commercial activity in Scheme 33,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n KDA engineering team members accompanied the DG during the visits and briefed him on the progress and technical aspects of the ongoing works.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
