The Chief Minister of Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah, has directed the School Education Department to ensure that newly upgraded schools across the province are fully operational by 2 April 2027. He also ordered the launch of an aggressive province-wide enrollment campaign to bring out-of-school children back into classrooms.<\/strong><\/p>\n The order was issued during a review meeting on the Sindh Secondary Education Improvement Project (SSEIP) at the Chief Minister\u2019s House in Karachi.<\/p>\n CM Sindh said completing school buildings was not enough and stressed that schools must have teachers, students and essential learning facilities in place when they open.<\/p>\n \u201cOur objective is not merely to construct schools but to ensure that children are enrolled, attend regularly and receive quality education close to their homes,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n The chief minister was briefed on the progress of SSEIP and SELECT schools, enrollment campaigns, teacher deployment plans and the proposed engagement of Education Management Organizations (EMOs).<\/p>\n Officials told the meeting that the SSEIP and SELECT programs cover 1,133 schools across Sindh, 838 under SSEIP and 295 under SELECT.<\/p>\n Under the current schedule, 552 schools are expected to be completed by December 2026 and 801 by March 2027. All 1,133 schools are due to be completed by December 2027.<\/p>\n Reviewing construction timelines, Murad Shah directed officials to ensure that all schools scheduled for completion by March 2027 are furnished, staffed, and ready for students by April 2, 2027.<\/p>\n Provincial Minister for Education Sardar Shah said the meeting was also informed about the results of a pilot enrollment campaign held in five newly upgraded secondary schools in Thatta district from 21 to 30 September, 2026.<\/p>\n Officials said 702 students enrolled in Classes VI to X during the nine-day campaign. Of those, 409 were girls, while 102 children who were either out of school or had dropped out returned to education.<\/p>\n He reported that community mobilization teams visited 116 feeder schools, reached 17 mohallas and 23 villages, and conducted door-to-door awareness campaigns involving parents, teachers and local elders.<\/p>\n CM Sindh directed the Education Department to expand the campaign across the province, with particular attention to girls and children who have left school.<\/p>\n Officials said the five pilot schools currently have a combined enrollment of 1,406 students. Additional teachers have also been proposed for the schools.<\/p>\n Discussing the future management of upgraded institutions, the chief minister directed the Education Department and PPP Unit to finalize a transparent and sustainable framework that would improve learning outcomes while ensuring accountability.<\/p>\n Concluding the meeting, Murad Shah reiterated that education remained the Sindh government\u2019s foremost priority and directed all stakeholders to work in close coordination to maximize enrollment and ensure that every newly upgraded school serves as a center of quality learning for local communities.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
