Pakistan has strongly condemned the attack by the Houthi rebels on the Taibah power distribution station in Madinah.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In a statement, Foreign Office Spokesperson Sajjad Haider Khan said this reprehensible attack against civilian infrastructure supplying electricity to the Holy Prophet\u2019s (PBUH) Mosque is a grave provocation and a matter of deep concern and anguish for millions of Muslims worldwide.<\/p>\n

The spokesperson said the sanctity of the Two Holy Mosques and the safety of worshippers and pilgrims must be respected under all circumstances.<\/p>\n

The spokesperson called for an immediate and unconditional end of such reckless actions that also constitute a grave threat to regional peace and security.<\/p>\n

Sajjad Haider Khan reaffirmed Pakistan\u2019s unwavering solidarity with the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and expressed full support for the Kingdom\u2019s sovereignty, territorial integrity and security. He said Pakistan stands firmly with Saudi Arabia in its efforts to safeguard the Two Holy Mosques, protect its people and ensure the safety of pilgrims.<\/p>\n

He said Pakistan has been and will continue to make all efforts for achieving lasting peace and stability in the region.<\/p>\n

The \u200bSaudi-led coalition fighting Yemen\u2019s Houthis said on Thursday the \u200cgroup had attacked a power distribution station in Medina this week, putting one transformer out of service but without affecting the electricity network.<\/p>\n

The coalition said an \u200binvestigation and examination of drone wreckage confirmed Houthi involvement in \u200bplanning and carrying out Tuesday\u2019s attack. It said the station \u2060supplies electricity to the Prophet\u2019s S.A.W Mosque, one of Islam\u2019s holiest \u200bsites.<\/p>\n

There was no immediate comment from the Houthis on the coalition\u2019s statement.<\/p>\n

Saudi \u200bArabia said two weeks ago it had intercepted and destroyed a Houthi drone south of Mecca before it entered restricted airspace over the city. The coalition described \u200bthat incident as the second Houthi attempt to target Mecca since \u200b2017, while the Houthis denied targeting Mecca or any other Islamic holy site.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
