Saudi Arabia has announced plans to regularize the status of Yemeni nationals living in the country without valid residency documents.<\/strong><\/p>\n The decision came in response to a request from Yemen\u2019s Presidential Leadership Council President Rashad Al-Alimi, prompting widespread praise among Yemenis across the Kingdom.<\/p>\n Saudi Arabia\u2019s Ministry of Interior said it would officially regularize the status of all Yemeni nationals residing irregularly in the Kingdom; the measure was part of the kingdom\u2019s continued humanitarian support for Yemen.<\/p>\n The ministry said it was coordinating the process with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Human Resources and Social Development, as well as the Saudi Data and AI Authority.<\/p>\n The Ministry of Interior said holding a valid Yemeni passport was an essential prerequisite for regularizing legal status. It added that the start date and applicable regulations would be announced through the official accounts of the General Directorate of Passports and other relevant authorities.<\/p>\n The announcement has been welcomed by Yemenis who have faced difficulties obtaining or renewing legal residency because of financial and other challenges.<\/p>\n According to the General Authority for Statistics\u2019 2025 report, more than 1.8 million Yemenis live in the Kingdom.<\/p>\n Yemen\u2019s government has also welcomed the Saudi announcement.<\/p>\n A statement by the Yemeni Council of Ministers expressed gratitude to Saudi King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, describing the measure as a continuation of Saudi support for Yemen.<\/p>\n Al-Alimi said the decision would help ease the difficulties faced by Yemenis and thanked the Saudi leadership for its support.<\/p>\n Yemen\u2019s ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Salem Saleh bin Braik, also welcomed the announcement and urged members of the Yemeni community to follow official instructions when the regularization process begins.<\/p>\n He said the Yemeni embassy in Riyadh would coordinate with Saudi authorities and provide citizens with information about the procedures and consular services involved.<\/p>\n Al-Alimi expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for the directives to regularize the status of Yemenis living in Saudi Arabia without legal residency.<\/p>\n He said the Embassy of Yemen in Riyadh would continue coordinating with the relevant authorities and inform citizens of all procedures and consular services related to the initiative as soon as they were received.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
