KUWAIT CITY: Kuwait on Tuesday strongly condemned the Houthi militia\u2019s continued attacks on Makkah and Madinah, describing them as a provocation to Muslim sentiments and a dangerous escalation targeting Islamic holy sites.<\/strong><\/p>\n According to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Kuwait\u2019s Foreign Ministry said the attacks had also targeted Riyadh and other Saudi cities, as well as civilian and economic facilities and vessels in the Red Sea and Bab Al-Mandab Strait.<\/p>\n The ministry warned that the attacks posed a threat to regional security and maritime safety, describing them as \u201chostile and cowardly\u201d acts that violate Saudi Arabia\u2019s sovereignty and international law, including international humanitarian law.<\/p>\n Kuwait reaffirmed its support for Yemen\u2019s legitimate government and the country\u2019s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.<\/p>\n It also praised Saudi Arabia\u2019s sustained efforts since 2014 to support political settlement initiatives and its leadership of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen.<\/p>\n The ministry called on the UN Security Council to implement its relevant resolutions, particularly Resolutions 2216 and 2817.<\/p>\n It also reiterated Kuwait\u2019s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and support for all measures taken to protect its sovereignty and security and ensure the safety of its citizens and residents.<\/p>\n \u201cSaudi Arabia\u2019s security is an integral part of Kuwait\u2019s security and that of the GCC member states,\u201d the ministry said.<\/p>\n
