MULTAN: The wheat cultivation target for Multan Division has been increased to 1.776 million acres for the 2026-27 season, compared with 1.760 million acres achieved during the previous season.<\/strong><\/p>\n The target was reviewed at a meeting chaired by Multan Division Commissioner Aamir Karim Khan, which was attended by the deputy commissioners of Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran and Vehari, along with agriculture officials and representatives of other departments.<\/p>\n Under the district-wise targets, Multan has been assigned 445,000 acres, Khanewal 503,000 acres, Lodhran 376,000 acres and Vehari 452,000 acres.<\/p>\n The commissioner directed the authorities to ensure wheat cultivation on all land allocated under the Apna Khet Apna Rozgar programme. He also called for coordinated efforts at the district and tehsil levels to meet the assigned targets.<\/p>\n He directed the Agriculture Department and district administrations to provide farmers with timely technical guidance, quality seed, fertilisers and irrigation water, besides creating awareness about modern farming practices. He further ordered action against the sale of fertilisers and seeds at prices above the officially notified rates and stressed that farmers must receive quality inputs at approved prices.<\/p>\n The meeting also reviewed measures for improving soil health, with officials directed to promote soil testing and ensure the use of fertilisers according to crop requirements.<\/p>\n Mr Khan instructed officials to educate farmers about soil conditions and nutrient deficiencies and encourage balanced fertiliser use to enhance wheat productivity.<\/p>\n The meeting was also briefed on the availability of canal water. The commissioner directed the Irrigation Department to maintain coordination with the relevant authorities to ensure adequate water availability during the wheat-growing season.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
