WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump, who waged war with Iran and has yet to broker peace in Ukraine, said on \u200bWednesday that he should win the Nobel Peace Prize but acknowledged \u200cdoubt about his chances.<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t know what their decision is going to be,\u201d Trump said of the 2026 award, which the Norwegian Nobel Committee will announce on Friday. \u201cThey have a \u200breputation for maybe not giving it to people like me.\u201d<\/p>\n Since his \u200breturn to the White House last year, Trump has repeatedly \u2060said he deserves what may be the world\u2019s most prestigious award. Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado gave her 2025 Nobel Peace \u200bPrize medal to Trump in January as she sought US support for her efforts \u200bin Venezuela.<\/p>\n Trump said he should get the prize after wading into eight conflicts since taking office \u200clast \u2060January.<\/p>\n The leaders of Cambodia, Israel and Pakistan have said they nominated Trump, though there is no way of verifying that.<\/p>\n Parties to some conflicts Trump claims to have resolved dispute the US president\u2019s diplomatic role, and fighting has flared \u200bagain in some of \u200bthose regions, including \u2060the Democratic Republic of Congo and along the border between Cambodia and Thailand.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is about \u200bthat time,\u201d Trump told reporters in the Oval Office. \u201cBut I was very honored \u200bto receive it indirectly last time by the recipient, who said nobody in history deserves it more than President Trump.\u201d<\/p>\n
