ISLAMABAD: Following approval of President Asif Ali Zardari, Governor\u2019s rule and emergency have been enforced in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) to maintain law and order.<\/strong><\/p>\n

As per details, the president has signed the summary for the imposition of an emergency and Governor\u2019s Rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under Articles 232 and 234 of the Constitution.<\/p>\n

The summary was signed on the advice of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.<\/p>\n

The presidential proclamation has cited an extraordinary surge in terrorist incidents and serious security threats as grounds for taking emergency constitutional measures in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.<\/p>\n

According to the proclamation, terrorist attacks on government installations and law enforcement agencies have increased, posing serious risks to security and public order.<\/p>\n

The declaration states that the provincial government has failed to take adequate measures to address terrorism and lawlessness.<\/p>\n

It further refers to the governor\u2019s report, which reportedly highlighted disruptions in the constitutional system and alleged that the provincial government was not functioning in accordance with the Constitution.<\/p>\n

In view of what it described as a serious emergency situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, President Asif Ali Zardari considered immediate constitutional action necessary, according to the proclamation.<\/p>\n

The presidential proclamation was issued under Articles 232(1) and 234(1) of the Constitution, the official statement said.<\/p>\n

The proclamation further states that the provincial government cannot be run in accordance with the Constitution under the prevailing circumstances.<\/p>\n

The stated grounds for the measures include escalating terrorist incidents, attacks on government installations and law enforcement agencies, and concerns raised in the governor\u2019s report regarding the functioning of the provincial government.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
