The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazal-Ur-Rehman (JUI-F) has submitted resolutions in the Senate and National Assembly opposing the imposition of emergency rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), describing the move as unconstitutional.<\/strong><\/p>\n Senator Kamran Murtaza submitted the resolution in the Senate, while MNA Alia Kamran tabled a similar resolution in the National Assembly.<\/p>\n Copies of the resolutions have also been sent to the President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari, the Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, the federal law minister, and other relevant authorities.<\/p>\n The resolutions condemn the imposition of emergency rule and the measures taken as a result, expressing concern that the move could undermine provincial autonomy and the constitutional rights of the people of KP.<\/p>\n The party has called on the federal government to present before parliament the summary and reports that led to the decision to impose emergency rule.<\/p>\n It has also urged the president and the federal government to immediately withdraw the emergency order and revoke all administrative directives issued as a consequence.<\/p>\n The resolutions state that Article 232 of the Constitution requires the president to be satisfied that the constitutional conditions for imposing an emergency have been met.<\/p>\n It was also alleged that the President had approved the imposition of the emergency without considering the constitutional requirements.<\/p>\n The JUI has called for the emergency order in KP to be withdrawn and declared it unconstitutional.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
