KUWAIT CITY: The Kuwait Cabinet strongly condemned continued Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia that targeted King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, King Fahad Airport in Dammam, and Abha Airport in recent days, causing deaths and injuries among civilians and material damage.<\/strong><\/p>\n In a statement after its weekly meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the Cabinet called the attacks a flagrant violation of Saudi Arabia\u2019s sovereignty and international law.<\/p>\n It urged a firm international stance to stop the attacks and hold those responsible accountable, reaffirmed full solidarity with Saudi Arabia, and stressed that Saudi security is inseparable from that of Kuwait and the GCC countries.<\/p>\n Condolences were extended to the Saudi leadership, government, people, and the families of victims (including those from other countries), with wishes for a speedy recovery for the injured.<\/p>\n The Cabinet was also briefed on: A phone call between Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and Iraqi President Nizar Amedi reviewing bilateral relations and regional developments, with both sides stressing the need to end escalation and return to dialogue.<\/p>\n Meetings held by Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, the Prime Minister, and Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah with Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy on joint Arab action and regional issues.<\/p>\n A briefing from the Foreign Minister on diplomatic efforts, including a call with Yemeni Foreign Minister Afrah Abdulaziz Al-Zouba in which Kuwait reiterated support for Yemen\u2019s legitimate government, sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity.<\/p>\n Kuwait\u2019s permanent representative to the UN, Nasser Al-Heyn, also expressed solidarity with Saudi Arabia at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, condemning Iranian-backed Houthi attacks on civilian infrastructure and Iranian attacks on regional countries and commercial shipping.<\/p>\n He highlighted economic, humanitarian, and security impacts (including energy supply disruptions) and called for diplomacy.<\/p>\n OPEC+ ministers stressed the importance of protecting international maritime routes, noting that disruptions have driven shipping and insurance costs to unprecedented levels (exceeding one-third of the value of goods in some cases).<\/p>\n The Saudi Cabinet, chaired by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, warned that the Houthi militia would face consequences for repeated attacks on the Kingdom\u2019s airports, Makkah, and Madinah. It praised the armed forces, the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen, and the rapid restoration of oil flows through the East-West Pipeline.<\/p>\n Arab Coalition spokesman Major General Turki Al-Maliki called for civilians to evacuate the Yemen Oil Company\u2019s Al-Sabaha Central Station in Sanaa ahead of a possible operation.<\/p>\n Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree threatened a \u201cfirm and painful\u201d response in Riyadh to any Saudi attack on Sanaa.<\/p>\n The latest escalation follows Houthi seizure of key areas along the Bab el-Mandeb Strait; a recent attack on Riyadh\u2019s airport killed at least 13 and wounded over 300.<\/p>\n Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty called on the Houthis to halt attacks immediately and urged diplomacy in a call with Iran\u2019s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
