The company has put them to rest but still emphasized one concerning aspect.

When the RTX 5090 suddenly vanished from third-party stores and Nvidia’s website, some reports suggested that Nvidia had stopped making the GPU and planned to use its factories to speed up AI hardware development instead.

The RTX 5090 has a suggested retail price of $1,999, but it’s been nearly impossible to find it for that amount. Most third-party sellers are listing it for about three times the MSRP.

Nvidia’s Senior Vice President Jeff Fisher told several Taiwanese news outlets, including SJTV and CNA, that the rumors about discontinuation are not true. He said the RTX 5090 is still an “extremely important core product.”

However, he did admit there are supply issues and assured customers that Nvidia is working hard to get the GPU back in stores.

Still, Fisher did not explain why the RTX 5090 disappeared from stores in the first place. Nvidia may have changed its plans after hearing from the PC gaming community, which is already struggling as AI companies buy up GPUs, memory, and other parts for their new models.

The RTX 5090 has faced several issues over the past year, such as DLSS 5 limitations, defective units, and melting power connectors. Still, with hardware prices so high, Fisher’s recent comments might give gamers some hope that they’ll eventually be able to buy the hardware they need.

Source link

Several rumors claimed that Nvidia has discontinued its RTX 5090 GPUs, which are used mostly in gaming setups.
