Brentford said on Monday they were working with police to identify those responsible after a rugby \u200bball appeared to be kicked from a nearby \u200crooftop towards their Gtech Community Stadium during Saturday\u2019s Premier League defeat by Liverpool.<\/strong><\/p>\n A viral video on social media showed a man \u200bkicking the ball from a nearby rooftop towards \u200bthe stadium, where it appeared to bounce off \u2060the roof, while a separate clip showed staff \u200bcarrying it away.<\/p>\n \u201cBrentford Football Club is aware of an \u200bincident involving an item being kicked from a height towards the field of play during Saturday\u2019s match against Liverpool,\u201d the club \u200bsaid in a statement.<\/p>\n \u201cSuch behaviour is dangerous and \u200bpotentially very harmful.<\/p>\n \u201cThe matter has been referred to the police and \u200cthe \u2060club is supporting the relevant authorities in their investigation to help identify those responsible and take appropriate action, which may result in criminal prosecution.<\/p>\n \u201cThe matchday safety of \u200bfans, staff, \u200bplayers and \u2060officials is of utmost importance, and the club will support all efforts to ensure \u200baction is taken.\u201d<\/p>\n Brentford lost the game 2-1 \u200bafter \u2060surrendering a first-half lead and finishing with nine men.<\/p>\n The Gtech Community Stadium is surrounded by residential and commercial \u2060buildings.<\/p>\n Brentford are \u200bsixth in the league standings \u200bwith 10 points from seven matches and visit Hull City on Sunday.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
