{"id":90454,"date":"2026-10-20T01:27:40","date_gmt":"2026-10-20T01:27:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsvog.com\/ur\/90454"},"modified":"2026-10-20T01:27:41","modified_gmt":"2026-10-20T01:27:41","slug":"pakistans-power-sector-circular-debt-rises-to-rs-1-675-billion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsvog.com\/ur\/90454","title":{"rendered":"Pakistan\u2019s power sector circular debt rises to Rs.1.675 billion"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div style=\"font-size:16px;line-height:1.6\">\n<p><strong>Circular debt in Pakistan\u2019s power sector rose to Rs.1.675 trillion by 30 June 2026; the power division presented the details in the National Assembly.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The debt stood at Rs.1641 billion at the end of the 2024-25 financial year, marking an increase of Rs.34 billion over the year.<\/p>\n<p>The Power Division attributed the rise to outstanding payments for electricity supplied from the national grid to K-Electric (KE).<\/p>\n<p>It said a case seeking recovery of the outstanding dues from KE was pending in court.<\/p>\n<p>Officials also said agreements with independent power producers (IPPs) based on the \u201ctake-or-pay\u201d model had been terminated and replaced with a hybrid take-and-pay model in an effort to reduce circular debt.<\/p>\n<p>The Power Division has also disclosed that 15 villages in Dera Ismail Khan remain without electricity.<\/p>\n<p>It said that a project to provide electricity to these villages has been planned for the 2026-27 financial year.<\/p>\n<p>However, completion of the project depends on the release of funds and the availability of equipment, according to the Power Division.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/arynews.tv\/pakistans-power-sector-circular-debt-rises-to-rs-1-675-billion\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Circular debt in Pakistan\u2019s power sector rose to Rs.1.675 trillion by 30 June 2026; the power division presented the details in the National Assembly.
