AC Milan have thrown their support behind supporters planning to boycott Sunday\u2019s Serie A match at Udinese, saying the cost \u200bof away tickets places an unfair burden on travelling \u200cfans.<\/strong><\/p>\n Tickets for visiting supporters were listed at \u20ac65 ($73). In a statement, Milan said excessive pricing risked widening divisions between clubs and undermining efforts to strengthen the \u200bprofile of Italian football.<\/p>\n \u201cThe global appeal of Italian football \u200bdepends heavily on the loyalty and passion of supporters of \u2060clubs like AC Milan,\u201d the club said.<\/p>\n \u201cCharging those same fans \u200bexcessive prices for away games is not only unfair, but undermines \u200bthe unity of the league at a time when Italian football needs to come together to compete against the Premier League and other European leagues.\u201d<\/p>\n Milan \u200balso urged Serie A to consider introducing a league-wide cap on \u200baway ticket prices, such as England\u2019s Premier League which has a cap of \u200c30 \u2060pounds ($40). The club also warned they could adopt a reciprocal policy.<\/p>\n Under the proposal, fans of clubs charging above-average prices to Milan supporters could face higher ticket costs when visiting San Siro, subject \u200bto league regulations, \u200bwith additional proceeds \u201cdonated \u2060to Fondazione Milan to support charitable initiatives\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cItalian football cannot grow stronger by treating supporters differently based \u200bon the size of their club,\u201d Milan added.<\/p>\n Ticket pricing \u200bhas \u2060been a longstanding issue for fan group Curva Sud, which boycotted Milan\u2019s away match at Juventus in 2023 in protest.<\/p>\n The supporters\u2019 group renewed \u2060its \u200bcomplaints last season over prices charged for \u200bMilan\u2019s fixtures against Juventus and also accused Torino of overcharging visiting fans.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
