La Liga president Javier Tebas could face disciplinary action for comparing Real Madrid\u2019s communication methods with those of Nazi propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels, after Spain\u2019s national sports council (CSD) asked the country\u2019s sports tribunal on Thursday to assess whether he had committed an offence.<\/strong><\/p>\n The CSD said in a statement it had referred the matter to the country\u2019s Administrative Court for Sport (TAD) after Tebas made the comparison in a post on social media platform X on October 16.<\/p>\n The TAD must determine whether Tebas\u2019s comments could constitute a serious offence under Spain\u2019s 1990 Sports Law, which includes \u201cnotorious and public acts that harm sporting dignity or decorum\u201d.<\/p>\n The CSD said \u201cit is essential to preserve the values that make sport a space of respect, coexistence, and fair play\u201d.<\/p>\n Spanish giants Real Madrid called for Tebas, 64, to resign after he criticised their efforts to discredit refereeing in Spain.<\/p>\n Tebas had said Real Madrid\u2019s in-house TV channel often suggested that referees attempt to prevent the club from winning.<\/p>\n The outspoken Spanish league chief said these tactics \u201crecall propaganda mechanisms exploited by Goebbels\u201d.<\/p>\n Tebas later attempted to clarify that he was drawing comparisons with \u201cthose propaganda techniques\u201d and not with the ideology of the Nazis.<\/p>\n The La Liga chief reiterated on Thursday with another X post that his comment had \u201cdistinguished between propaganda techniques and ideology\u201d.<\/p>\n Tebas also questioned why Madrid \u201caccusing the refereeing system of corruption\u201d did \u201cnot affect sporting dignity and decorum\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cDoes it not harm clubs, referees, and millions of fans?\u201d wrote Tebas. \u201cOr do those values only deserve a public defence when someone responds to such attacks?\u201d<\/p>\n Real Madrid criticise referees most weeks on their television channel and last year accused officiating in Spain of being \u201crigged\u201d and \u201ctotally discredited\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
