He has tried to remedy that at his rallies, pointing to a record-low poverty rate, low unemployment, record highs in the stock market and cheaper prices for some food items.<\/p>\n But his sales \u200cpitch is colliding with voters\u2019 concerns about how much they are spending on gas, groceries and other everyday expenses.<\/p>\n Consumer prices accelerated in September as the cost of gasoline surged. The nationwide average price of gas is $4.27 per gallon ($1.13 per litre), nearly 40% higher than a year ago, according to AAA.
